Degrees of Sustainability

A thought:
Maybe we need far fewer events focused on sustainability and environmentalism, and far more events with sustainability and environmental pieces.

Maybe we need to get better at sharing. (Information, ideas, events, websites, etc.)

I very much agree. I think at this point a lot of the people who flock to the message of "sustainability" already have. I think we need to start incorporating it into other events, "setting the culture" so to speak. Sustainability is an important issue. But it can't remain just that -- an issue. It needs to become a way of life.

I think we're getting there though. When reading about the new embassy being built in London you see that it is being designed for "sustainability" along with everything else. But that's not the focus. The focus is the aesthetics and how it shows that "america is trying to be more open to the world and put forth a better image." Sustainability is seen as a necessary byline. And when we have it ingrained to that level, to the point where it's just something that we do without giving too much extra thought, I think that's when we'll truly be living sustainable lives.

Little ways off though. But progress is being made.
